Leveraging more than 40 years experience in the world of investments, Norman Nabhan leads Graystone Consulting at Morgan Stanley as managing director. Outside of his professional pursuits, Norman Nabhan supports several nonprofit organizations, including the Peregrine Fund.
The Peregrine Fund, established in 1970, actively works to keep birds of prey from becoming extinct. When the organization was officially launched, the raptor known as the Peregrine Falcon was close to becoming endangered. The Peregrine Fund worked diligently to restore its numbers, and in 1999 it was removed from the United States Endangered Species List. Since then, the group has broadened its scope to include more than 100 bird species across 65 countries.
The organization works to fulfill its mission using various methods. One approach is through education. On a daily basis, the Peregrine Fund hosts tours at its center in Boise, Idaho, that provide a basic understanding of birds of prey. The hands-on presentations provide a chance to see raptors up close. In another tour, participants learn the ancient art of falconry, a sport that reaches back to a time before the Middle Ages where a bird of prey is trained to hunt small animals.
